 ockoala@a koala’s playground:

“Woah baby doesn’t even begin to capture the veritable deluge of exposition and tragedy that unfurls onscreen within the first hour of Scholar Who Walks the Night. This drama starts off deviating wholly from the source manhwa and never stops to question the decision to adapt the story with different elements”.

dea@beatus corner:

“So far this drama ticks all the boxes (for me) although I hope the music director will read viewers’ feedback. I’m already missing Lee Hyun Woo though :(“.

william schwartz@hancinema:

“In general I like what I’m seeing from “Scholar Who Walks the Night” right now. The drama has very clearly telegraphed itself as being an epic story of conflict between kings and vampires, and the tone is clearly enough set here that the story is unlikely to be betray itself”.

ninja@ninja reflection:

“It is a good thing the second episode is a whole lot lighter than the first episode because I cried so much during episode one I was starting to think I better not watch episode two”.

First impressions

yami hyunnie@asian reviewer maniac:

“This drama knows what it is doing. The way that this drama is currently being executed is absolutely a-ma-zing!”.

First impressions

audreymgonzalez@feminist kdrama feels:

“How campy do you like your shows?

In all honesty, Scholar Who Walks the Night isn’t a stellar show (hell, it isn’t even my favorite Lee Jun-ki in a fusion sageuk with magical creatures show, but we’re only four episodes in), but it is an entertaining one”.

First impressions (up to episode 04)

orion@hancinema:

“This is a series where the male lead carries the female lead through a forest and a random rain of flower petals starts descending upon them. This is pure fantasy romance, along with all the corniness that characterizes it“.

First impressions (up to episode 04)

kooriyuki@nekosdrama:

“Totally awesome. We have an established backstory in one episode, and the second kicks things into action“.

madi@seoulbeats:

“I would definitely read the manhwa to compare the two and hopefully learn more about Gwi’s past, which wasn’t revealed too much..

Series review

chunkeemonkeeato@musings of a chunkeemonkeeato:

Scholar Who Walks the Night could have been a great trendy drama.  Instead, the writing is distracted by plotlines that never seem to lead anywhere”.

Series review

neenee@asian addicts anonymous:

“I…really don’t know what I think about this drama overall. I don’t buy the affection between the bookseller and scholar. Plus…there’s some scenes that just end up being trite and over the top. It’s sad. There is potential, but I’m not quite certain the drama is reaching it at this moment”.

First impressions (up to episode 10)
